Plague is clinically classified into glandular plague, pneumonic plague and septicemic plague, with glandular plague being the most common in clinical practice. The incubation period of plague is relatively short, usually 1-6 days, with most of them being 2-3 days. Patients may develop fever, which may be accompanied by chills, sudden rise in body temperature to 39-41°C, severe headache, nausea, vomiting, respiratory distress, tachycardia, and drop in blood pressure. In severe cases, unconsciousness and delirium can appear early. Since plague progresses rapidly and has a high mortality rate, patients should be isolated and treated as soon as they are diagnosed. Treatment of plague is based on the use of sensitive antibiotics, early and adequate administration of antibiotics, and symptomatic supportive treatment.
