If the patient does not have anemia due to folic acid deficiency or abnormal folic acid metabolism and is simply taking the medication prophylactically, it is best to get pregnant after three months of application. After three months of application to become pregnant, the patient still needs to continue taking folic acid during the first trimester, in which case a small dose of one tablet of folic acid is sufficient. If the patient is older or has a high risk of folic acid metabolism, the patient can take a small dose of two tablets of folic acid and will need to take folic acid throughout the pregnancy. If the patient has anemia due to folic acid deficiency, the patient should continue to take folic acid until the anemia is corrected, or at least until the anemia is mild, so how long the patient takes to conceive after the medication depends on the patient’s anemia and recovery.
