Why is it important for diabetics to take care of their feet?

  When some people hear about diabetes, they think they may not be far from amputation. If you can’t get your blood sugar under effective control, there’s a good chance you’ll go that far. But it’s not inevitable.  Some people just assume that diabetics should never walk barefoot and should use a mirror to check their feet every day. It is best for diabetics to wear socks with special padding and to see a doctor as soon as you notice a wound on your foot. If you do have signs of neuropathy or impaired microcirculation in your feet, the preceding advice does make sense. If you don’t feel anything in your feet, you can easily leave small stones in your shoes or even rub calluses, and minor injuries can turn into ulcers that don’t heal for a long time. These ulcers can lead to gangrene and eventual amputation.  If you think you have impaired sensation in your feet, be sure to have your doctor examine your feet at each visit to catch the problem. You can also check the sensation in your feet at home by using a small piece of a specific fiber. As long as you can feel the presence of these fibers, you will have enough sensory ability to feel small cuts or bruises on your feet.  Please take care of your feet. If you feel pain, keep an eye on it and see your doctor if it doesn’t get better soon. If you suspect a sensory deficit, use a specific fibrous wire or go to the hospital for an examination. However, if your sensation is normal, you do not need to check your feet with a mirror every morning. At this point, you should not feel burdened and do as much as you like.
