Chronic prostatitis generally belongs to the categories of “gonorrhea (increased frequency of urination, dribbling and pain)”, “spermatozoa”, and “leucorrhea (cloudy urine like white slurry)” in traditional Chinese medicine. The Chinese medicines that can treat chronic prostatitis include Bazheng San and Cheng’s Dioscorea Villosa.
If the patient’s main manifestations are frequent urination, short astringency, burning and stinging pain, abdominal constriction (small abdominal traction discomfort) and distension, drowning color yellow and red, or lumbar pain and refusal to press, or chills and fever, bitter taste and vomiting, or constipation, etc., the common use of Bazheng San plus subtractions for the treatment.
If the patient’s main manifestation is astringent urination, poor dribbling, distension and pain in the abdomen, or frequent urination and ulceration, incomplete leaking, abdominal distension and other symptoms, commonly used in the treatment of Shenxiang San or tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi soup.
If the patient’s urine is turbid and unclear, milky white in color or like rice slop, precipitated like flocculent, with floating oil like grease, etc., it is often treated with Cheng’s Hypoglossum Dioscoreae plus subtractions.
