Every parent wants their baby to be healthy, smart and cute, and they are very careful in the parenting process. But sometimes good intentions do bad things, some of the mother’s parenting behavior will instead affect the baby’s growth and development. 1, fixed newborn baby sleep position “I heard that babies lying on their backs will cause flat head, prone to suffocation, so every time the baby fell asleep in my arms, I am gently put down the baby, and then to the baby into a side position. This way the baby is safe.” Correct practice: sleep position before one year old is supine position, in order to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome, whether full-term or premature babies, babies should take the supine position every time they sleep until one year old, while side sleep is unsafe and not recommended. 2, wake up sleeping baby to urinate “I am afraid that my baby will wet the bed, every few hours I pick up my baby to urinate, sometimes my baby is woken up by me crying, I can’t help it, I don’t want his little butt to be wrapped in a wet diaper, how bad it is to get a red butt.” The right thing to do: Your baby’s sleep is very important, and if you sacrifice your baby’s precious sleep just to keep his little butt from getting dirty, it will be more than worth it. Choose a good quality diaper to protect your baby’s little butt, and if your baby is uncomfortable with wetness, he will remind you to change it in time with his cries. After two or three years old babies pee at night, some already know to call out, some will wake up naturally when they have the urge to pee, there is simply no need to have to wake the baby up. 3, sleep with the light on “I like to leave the light on in the bedroom, one is convenient to take care of the baby, on the other hand, so that the baby has a sense of security.” The right thing to do: sleep with the lights off. The light over the bed will not only affect the quality of your baby’s sleep, but also affect the development of vision. Any artificial light source will produce a weak light pressure on the body, this light pressure for a long time, will make babies and children anxious, nervous and difficult to sleep. Sleeping under lights for a long time also affects the reticular activation system of the eyes, resulting in a shorter time per sleep, shallow sleep depth, and easy waking. The incidence of myopia is four times higher in infants who sleep under the lights compared to those who sleep in the dark. 4, wear too many clothes to sleep “I am afraid that my baby will get cold in bed, so I will give my baby a thin sweater to sleep in, so I will not be afraid to freeze my little tummy.” The correct approach: sleep should not wear too hot. The high humidity of the blanket, coupled with the baby’s high metabolism, can easily induce “stifling syndrome”, which can cause the baby to sweat profusely, and even deflate. 5, milk powder brewed too thick “I always feel that the milk brewed according to the instructions is too light, so they will add some milk powder, so that the baby can eat and grow fat.” The correct approach: milk powder should not be too thick or too light. The higher the concentration of milk the more sodium it contains, which can easily raise the blood sodium concentration in infants, causing symptoms such as constipation and rising blood pressure. 6, premature addition of complementary foods “My baby started drinking juice after the first month, so that she can be hydrated and vitamins.” The right approach: wait until 6 months before adding complementary foods. Breast milk is the perfect natural nutrient and drink for babies, providing all the nutrients they need, including water and most vitamins. Therefore, for babies under 6 months of age and exclusively breastfed, there is no need to add additional water and other beverages. 7, supplemental food noisy or supplemental food added too late “supplemental food”, the name has clearly told us, can only be part of the baby’s diet, especially for children under 1 year old, the main source of nutrition is still milk. Some babies love solids so much that parents are happy to see their child’s “good appetite” for food, thus neglecting the necessary amount of milk. Compared to milk, the same amount of supplemental food has less than half the energy of milk. The correct approach: after the child is 6 months old, you should add complementary foods in a timely manner, food properties from fine to coarse, and constantly introduce new varieties for children. 8, bottle-fed paste food “I found a good way to feed the baby to eat, the rice flour, egg yolk paste and other complementary foods into the bottle, the baby can eat faster.” Correct practice: feed paste-like food with a small spoon. Many parents feeding afraid of trouble, or worried that the baby eat too little, the rice flour and other paste food into the bottle to feed the baby. This may increase the amount of food your baby eats, leading to overweight, while making your baby lose the opportunity to practice chewing. In fact, babies eat paste-like food for an important purpose – so that they can learn the process of eating.
