What does a hyperdense shadow in the lungs mean?



High density shadow in the lungs may be calcification, inflammation or tumor, tuberculosis and so on.

1. High-density shadow in lungs is generally a radiographic term, when there is a white high-density shadow in lungs, it may be a calcification point in lungs, if there is a bacterial infection in the body, it may lead to localized calcification, as well as inflammation infiltration area.

2. If the high-density shadow in the lungs is nodular and there are signs such as burr sign with unclear boundaries, it suggests that the patient has the possibility of tuberculosis or lung cancer.

3. If the patient is diagnosed with inflammation, antibiotics such as penicillin and azithromycin should be used promptly.

4. If the patient’s sputum smear confirms the presence of tuberculosis bacillus, anti-tuberculosis treatment should be carried out for 6-9 months. If the patient is diagnosed as cancer by pathology, surgery or chemotherapy should be used according to its analysis.
