Four Reversible San and Easy Pill are different in drug composition, efficacy and main treatment, and it is recommended to take them under the guidance of a doctor when using medication. Sihui San is composed of Chai Hu (柴胡) for liver detoxification, Hovenia Citrus Husk (枳壳) for regulating qi and eliminating stagnation, Paeonia lactiflora (白芍) for nourishing the liver and nourishing blood, and Glycyrrhiza glabra (甘草) for harmonizing herbs (调和诸药) with the efficacy of relieving stagnation, dispersing heat and detoxifying the liver and regulating the spleen. Si Reverse San is often used in the treatment of Yang depression and syncope (cold extremities due to poor circulation of Yang qi) syndromes such as lack of warmth in the hands and feet, abdominal pain, or heaviness in the lower part of the body due to discharge; and Liver-Spleen disharmony (inability of liver and spleen to harmonize with each other) syndromes such as distension and pain in the cores and ribs, and pain in the epigastrium (abdomen). It is composed of Chai Hu and Mentha piperita for detoxifying the liver, Angelica sinensis and Paeonia lactiflora for nourishing blood, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and Poria cocos for strengthening the spleen, and Ginger and Glycyrrhiza glabra for harmonizing the stomach. It is used in treating liver depression and blood deficiency (liver qi stagnation (poor qi and blood transportation in the liver, emotional depression), blood deficiency) and spleen weakness, which is characterized by pain in the two hypochondriacs, headache and dizziness, dry mouth and throat, fatigue (lack of mental energy) with low food intake, or irregular menstruation with breast distension and pain. The adverse effects and contraindications of the two drugs are not clear. When discomfort occurs, it is necessary to consult a doctor in time and select medication under the guidance of physician’s diagnosis, and not to use medication on one’s own in order to avoid delaying the condition.
