Proptosis refers to a metopic ophthalmopathy in which the eye protrudes, causing loss of vision in severe cases. Currently there are two main types of corrective surgery: one is a general orbital decompression surgery, particularly of the infraorbital, intraorbital and extraorbital walls, which opens the eye and requires a large incision. Such a procedure requires general anesthesia and costs about 20,000 yuan, and may be more expensive if there are other diseases. Another type of surgery, also popular nowadays, is called minimally invasive surgery, which uses a lumpectomy to enter the infraorbital and intraorbital walls to fracture the orbital wall, and then fat inversion or aspiration to make the eye sunken in, with better postoperative results and less damage and faster recovery.
