If vaginal discharge is smelly, it is often seen clinically for the following reasons: 1st, the most common cause is caused by bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is caused by anaerobic bacterial infection due to dysbiosis in the vagina, which is manifested by more discharge and a great fishy odor, which can be recommended to be treated with metronidazole. The 2nd one, is cervical cancer. Cervical cancer causes foul-smelling vaginal discharge due to necrosis of cancerous tissues and is often accompanied by a blood-colored condition. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a timely checkup and, if necessary, screening for cervical cancer or direct colposcopy. The third one is cancer of the endometrium. In advanced cases of endometrial cancer with co-infection, vaginal discharge may be foul smelling and accompanied by slop-like discharge.
