What’s wrong with an itchy incision after a hip replacement?

Itchy wound after hip replacement can be divided into physiological and pathological reasons, as follows. 1. Physiological: within 3~4 days of wound healing after hip replacement, the newborn blood vessels in the wound will stimulate the newborn nerve endings, due to the fact that the newborn nerve endings don’t have complete functions, they may produce itchy feeling, which is a normal reaction. 2. Pathological: when the wound is infected due to bacteria, the secretion produced by the inflammatory cells or the stimulation of foreign matter in the wound can lead to itchy wound, in addition to redness, swelling, pain and other symptoms of the wound. If the wound is itchy and accompanied by redness, swelling, pain and other symptoms, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, and early formal treatment.
