Can there be several luteal cysts?

It is possible to have several luteal cysts. Luteal cyst is a physiological cyst, the normal corpus luteum is a cystic structure, when the capillary bleeding of its capsule wall, blood can flow into the luteal cavity leading to the formation of luteal cysts, the normal corpus luteum is about 2~3cm in diameter, when its diameter increases more than 3cm, it is known as corpus luteum cysts. Luteal cysts are mostly found unilaterally and are mostly solitary. In rare cases, they may be multiple, as in ovulation induction therapy. Luteal cysts usually have no obvious symptoms; some people may have unilateral lower abdominal pain, amenorrhea or prolonged menstrual periods; if the cyst ruptures, it may lead to acute abdomen, manifesting as sudden severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, anal swelling; if the cyst is twisted, it may manifest as abdominal distension, abdominal pain, and a mass with obvious pressure and pain is palpated in one side of the lower abdomen. Through local ultrasonography, the size, location, number and rupture of luteal cysts can be determined, and then appropriate treatment will be carried out according to the condition.
