Both thymoma and lymph nodes can be found in the thymic region, but there are still some differences between the two. The main points of differentiation are different locations, inconsistent lesion conditions, different symptoms, and different pathologic findings. 1. Different locations: thymoma itself occurs inside the thymus tissue, while lymph nodes mainly occur at the edge of the thymus area and next to the arch of the aorta. 2. Inconsistency of lesion status: thymoma is round, irregular and uneven in density; lymph nodes are mainly kidney-shaped and uniform in density. 3. Symptoms are different: some thymoma may have symptoms of muscle weakness; lymph nodes usually do not produce symptoms. 4. Pathological findings are different: thymoma is characterized by hyperplastic tumor cells; lymph nodes are pure lymphoid tissue. If the thymic nodule is found to be continuously enlarged through review, it is necessary to consult a doctor in time for observation and standardized treatment under the guidance of a clinician after confirming the diagnosis of the disease.
