Vascular aging is a normal physiological process of the arterial vasculature. The main physiological mechanism is the weakening of the elastic fibers of the blood vessels and the reduced compliance of the vessel walls, resulting in vascular sclerosis with reduced elasticity. Clinically, if the blood vessels are aging, it does not cause clear narrowing of the vessels or even occlusion of the vessels, and does not affect the blood supply of the vessels to the distal tissues. In this case, it is controlled by diet and exercise. It is recommended to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, adhere to a low-salt and low-fat diet, and do more aerobic exercises to slow down the process of vascular aging. If clear vascular stenosis or occlusion is caused, patients with mild cases at this time need to be controlled by medications. Aspirin and statins can be taken to further slow down the vascular aging process to relieve the symptoms. If the symptoms and severity of the disease worsen, surgery or interventional treatment at a specialized vascular surgery center should be considered.
