How to Determine a Fractured Nose

Clinically, to determine whether a patient has a fracture of the nasal bridge, the first step is to ask the patient if he or she has a history of trauma. This is because most nasal fractures are caused by direct external forces. Secondly, if the patient’s nose is fractured, there will be extensive swelling in the nose, subcutaneous bruising of the surrounding skin, positive localized pressure pain, obvious deformity, and the patient will be self-conscious of breathing problems. X-rays or CT films of the nasal cartilage can be taken and the septum can be clearly visualized. If there is a disruption in the continuity of the nasal septum, a nasal fracture can be diagnosed. Therefore, after the occurrence of nasal trauma in the clinic, the patient should consult the doctor in time. After a clear diagnosis and relevant examination, the doctor can clarify whether there is a fracture of the nasal bridge. If there is a fracture, the fracture should be treated symptomatically to avoid delaying the condition.
