What Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) believes to be the cause of chronic pharyngitis

According to TCM, chronic pharyngolaryngitis is associated with lung yin deficiency, liver and kidney yin deficiency (deficiency of yin in the liver and kidneys), spleen and stomach weakness, and phlegm and stagnant phlegm. Chronic pharyngolaryngitis is a common clinical disease, which is mainly considered to be related to diffuse inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa caused by chronic infection. Patients mainly manifested as dry, itchy, swelling and pain in the pharynx, hoarseness, foreign body sensation, nausea and vomiting in the morning and other manifestations. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that frequent smoking, alcoholism, etc., leading to lung yin injury, may cause chronic pharyngitis; prolonged illness, etc., may be depleted liver and kidney, resulting in the inflammation of deficiency fire, can cause chronic pharyngitis. Chronic pharyngitis can be caused by weak spleen and stomach, hoarseness of the throat due to prolonged illness, over-exertion of thought and labor, and unclean diet. In addition to this, evil poison retention, phlegm and stasis, paralysis of the throat (redness, swelling and pain in the throat, or dryness, foreign body sensation, or itchy and discomfort in the pharynx, difficulty in swallowing) for a long period of time can lead to the disease.
