Hand tremor in the elderly, which becomes more and more severe, should be ruled out as Parkinson’s disease or Parkinson’s syndrome. Such patients should consult the neurology department of the hospital, and the neurologist will select the appropriate auxiliary tests based on the past medical history, such as CT or MRI to exclude intracranial lesions, and identify whether the hand tremor is caused by intracranial lesions, Parkinson’s disease, or Parkinson’s syndrome. If the diagnosis is clear, depending on the severity of the hand tremors and depending on the age, they can be controlled with medication. If the patient is diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, medications such as Antabuse or Medoxomil can be given, but they must be administered under the supervision of a neurologist and should not be discontinued once they have been used.
