Kai Tong Tablet is a trade name of compound alpha-keto acid tablet, which is mainly used as an adjuvant treatment for patients with chronic renal insufficiency and needs to be combined with low protein diet. Patients with chronic renal insufficiency, when the glomerular filtration rate is lower than 60 ml/min, need to apply a low protein diet, maintaining a daily protein intake of 0.6-0.8 g/kg body weight, when the application of low protein diet can slow down the progression of kidney disease. However, it is prone to essential amino acid deficiency and needs to be treated with Kai Tong tablets. Kaito tablets are converted into essential amino acids in the body by transferring them without additional effects on the kidneys. The commonly used dose is 4-8 tablets 3 times a day, usually taken orally with meals. There are few side effects of Kaito tablets, the common one being hypercalcemia, so regular monitoring of blood calcium is required during the use of the drug.
