Liver cysts cannot currently be resolved by medication alone, but can be treated with medication as an adjunct.
Pharmacologic treatment of liver cysts is mainly for cystic liver cysticercosis, which is used as an adjunctive treatment in addition to surgery. Commonly used anti-cystic drugs mainly include mebendazole, albendazole, benzimidazole and so on.
For patients with cysts complicating bacterial infection may have high fever, abdominal pain, elevated white blood cells and other symptoms, antibiotics can be applied for treatment, and commonly used anti-infective drugs include levofloxacin, moxifloxacin and so on.
Liver cysts are usually treated by surgery. Commonly used surgical methods include cyst opening, partial hepatectomy, and complete exfoliation of cystic hepatic cysts. Patients can choose the appropriate treatment plan according to the doctor’s advice.
Patients with liver cysts are generally not required to undergo special treatment if there are no obvious symptoms, and regular follow-up examinations are sufficient. Those with large cysts and symptoms need to be treated under the guidance of a doctor.
