What are bone metastases?

Bone metastatic tumor refers to the malignant tumors whose primary lesion site is not in the bone but originated in other tissues and organs metastasize to the bone, such as lung, breast, prostate, liver and so on. The common ways of malignant tumor metastasis are local tissue infiltration, lymph node metastasis, bloodway metastasis, and some tissues and organs can also be metastasized through tumor cell shedding and planting to other organs. Bone metastatic tumor mostly occurs when malignant tumor cells are transferred to bones through blood, and the common sites are ribs, spine and pelvis. Early manifestation of bone metastases is local pain, and the disease progresses gradually, local mass and limitation of limb movement may appear, and pathological fracture, anemia and hypercalcemia may appear in serious cases. In severe cases, pathological fracture and hypercalcemia may occur, and the curative effect of surgery and radiotherapy is poor. It is recommended that cancer patients should go to regular hospitals for regular consultation, follow the diagnosis and treatment advice of specialists, standardized treatment and regular follow-up. If tumor bone metastasis occurs, it is necessary to actively cooperate with the treatment in order to prolong the survival time.
