Is a twitching sensation in the area of facial paralysis good or bad?

Whether a twitching sensation in the facial paralysis area is good or bad depends mainly on the time of the onset of the disease. If it occurs during the acute phase of treatment and can be controlled by voluntary consciousness, it may be a manifestation of recovery, but if it occurs more than a year after the disease, it may be a sequela. Some patients may feel that the expression muscles on the affected side of facial paralysis are throbbing from time to time. When the patient is in the treatment period or early recovery, i.e. one month after the appearance of facial paralysis symptoms, and can be controlled by voluntary consciousness, it is generally a sign that the facial nerve is restoring its innervation to the muscles and the muscle function tends to recover. However, if the patient is in the late stage of recovery from facial paralysis and the postictal stage, the possibility of secondary facial muscle spasm needs to be considered. This condition usually occurs as a comorbidity of facial paralysis, which means that it has entered the postictal stage, and the difficulty of treatment will increase accordingly. If the twitching sensation occurs after facial paralysis, it is recommended to consult a doctor as soon as possible to improve the examination and carry out the treatment under the doctor’s guidance, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
