Dampness can be categorized into dampness-heat internalization and cold-damp internalization. Dampness-heat internalization can be regulated by San Ren Tang, while cold-damp internalization can be regulated by Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang. 1. Damp-heat internalization: This syndrome is mostly caused by the feeling of damp-heat in the long summer season, Wei Yang (yang qi on the surface of the muscle) being suppressed, and the spleen and stomach being out of harmony. Manifestations are headache and cold (fear of cold), heavy body pain, body fatigue, yellowish color, chest tightness, not hungry, body heat in the afternoon, and so on. The method should be to promote the flow of qi, clearing heat and inducing dampness, and San Ren Tang was given as a treatment with additional subtractions. San Ren Tang adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear, yellow tongue, heat is heavier than dampness, should not be used. 2. Cold and dampness: If spleen yang is insufficient, the healthy transportation is not normal, water and dampness stop (water and dampness stay in the body), into phlegm into drink, can be seen in the chest and ribs (chest and ribs part of the general term) support fullness, dizziness, palpitations in the heart, shortness of breath, and coughing, and so on. The treatment is to warm yang and eliminate drinking (warming yang qi in the body to promote water metabolism), strengthen the spleen and promote diuresis, and give Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang with additional subtractions. The adverse effects and contraindications of Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang are not clear, and this formula is not suitable for those who cough with sticky phlegm because of the heat generated by the drink. Dampness may also have other conditions. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital as soon as possible to clarify the cause of the disease and treat it under the guidance of a doctor. Self-diagnosis is not advisable to avoid delaying the condition.
