Chest pain in the elderly

In elderly patients, if they have chest pain, the first step is to rule out whether it is an angina attack. Patients are advised to take sublingual nitroglycerin or heart pills when they have chest pain, and electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasound, and cardiac enzymes can be done. Especially for patients with prolonged and severe pain, it is important to exclude whether acute myocardial infarction has occurred. If necessary, coronary angiography can be performed in patients who are considered to have acute myocardial infarction. There are also older patients who present with chest pain, which may also be due to cardiac neuropathy. Myocardial bridges, X syndrome, also cause patients to experience discomfort in the precordial region.
