Does a positive pregnancy test mean you are pregnant?

A positive pregnancy test, such as a positive result on urine pregnancy test paper or blood HCG, may be pregnancy, but it needs to be analyzed in context. Pregnancy tests include blood pregnancy tests as well as urine pregnancy tests. A positive blood pregnancy test is a higher than normal blood HCG result. In the case of an intrauterine pregnancy, which is a normal pregnancy, the HCG value usually doubles every other day. If the pregnancy is ectopic, the HCG will also appear to be elevated, but at a slower rate and significantly different from a normal pregnancy. In the case of a urine pregnancy test, two red bars after using an early pregnancy test are considered positive and pregnancy is more likely, but a false positive, i.e. not pregnant, can also occur due to improper handling and other circumstances. The diagnosis of pregnancy, whether it is an early intrauterine pregnancy or an ectopic pregnancy, can be confirmed by ultrasonography. Therefore, it is necessary to go to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the hospital for the relevant tests to assess whether pregnancy is present or not. In addition, gestational trophoblastic diseases, such as hyperemesis gravidarum and choriocarcinoma, may also lead to a positive pregnancy test, and further tests are needed to exclude positive results caused by tumors, etc.
