Gums always swelling may be periodontitis caused by periodontal abscess, apical periodontitis caused by submucosal abscess and other diseases, as follows.
1. Periodontitis: when periodontitis develops to advanced stage, periodontal abscess may appear, which is manifested as oval or hemispherical swollen bumps formed on the labial and buccal or lingual and palatal sides of the affected teeth, and the gums are red, oedematous, and the surfaces are glossy, which may be accompanied by throbbing pain.
2. Periapical periodontitis: The submucosal abscess stage of acute periapical periodontitis is characterized by limited mucosal swelling in the apical area, hemispherical bulge, and obvious sense of fluctuation.
