Seizure precautions

Effects Epilepsy is a chronic disease that can extend for years or even decades, and thus can have serious adverse effects on the patient’s physical, mental, marital, and socioeconomic status. The first aid method 1, the patient needs to be placed on a flat and unobstructed plane around to minimize the occurrence of accidents such as fractures caused by the jerking of limbs during seizures. Pay attention to keep the patient in a lateral position to help prevent the airway from being obstructed by oral secretions or vomit during a seizure, which may cause asphyxiation. 2, should quickly undo the clothes or remove the tie to keep the airway open. Do not forcibly pry open the patient’s teeth to avoid blocking the airway by dislodging teeth. Note 1, after the seizure, the patient’s consciousness is often blurred, there will be purposeful movements or behaviors, in this case, while doing a good job of epilepsy care, to avoid excessive restrictions on the patient’s activities lead to aggressive behavior of patients. 2, If the epilepsy is continuous within a short period of time or a seizure lasts more than 5-10 minutes, call for help and send the patient to the hospital to continue resuscitation. 3, for seizures such as epileptic disorientation seizures and other subsections not accompanied by obvious limb convulsion components, if the seizure lasts for a short period of time (less than 5 minutes) generally do not require special treatment, as long as the performance of the seizure is recorded and observed, followed by a timely visit to the doctor. 4. If the seizures are sudden and frequent, this condition is mainly seen in some children with epilepsy, and they need to wear helmets if necessary to avoid head injuries from falls.
