In clinical practice, we often encounter such patients: 1. At the beginning of the disease, the performance is only poor sleep, attention, memory loss, or emotional instability (anxiety, depression), or tension in interpersonal relationships due to sensitivity. However, the disease was repeatedly delayed because they or their family members did not pay enough attention to it, and by the time they remembered to go to the doctor, the disease had already taken shape. In recent contacts with patients around 30 years old, I often heard them talk about how they felt introverted, serious and sensitive when they were in junior high school, worried about their bad grades, worried that their teachers and classmates did not like them, or always worried that they would suspect them when there was something missing from their class. Some even say they were bullied by their classmates since they were young. And at that time they did not get timely help, fear and worry gradually accumulate to eventually lead to the onset of the disease. 2, originally a very common disease, because they can not tolerate the side effects of drugs, when the drug does not reach the full course of treatment of the full dose of medication constantly change, resulting in doubts about the doctor, always feel that they did not find a good doctor, resulting in the disease more and more difficult to treat. There is such an example among the patients I have contacted, a woman, 50 years old, ran all over the major hospitals in Beijing because of sleep disorder, looking for experts and famous doctors, but they all repeatedly changed the medication because they could not tolerate the side effects of the medication, and finally became intractable insomnia. 3. When a person is diagnosed with a mental illness, especially a small child, because of our national one-child policy, most families have only one child. When a child is diagnosed with a mental illness, it is difficult for family members, especially parents, to accept such a blow, so some parents take the patient to see a Chinese doctor for fear that the medication will harm the brain cells, see witchcraft, zap the needles, reject the taking of psychiatric medication, and even fail to adhere to the maintenance amount of medication. This eventually results in recurrence of the disease and even affects the development of a person’s lifelong social functioning. Most of the patients in our wards who have been hospitalized for a long time have this phenomenon. 4. Influenced by our face culture, if someone in a family suffers from mental illness, it will increase the shame of that family, so when a person feels that he or she has a mental or psychological disorder, some family members are not acceptable, which creates a great obstacle to treatment. Among the patients I have contacted is such a woman who is depressed, has strained interpersonal relationships, her marriage has lit up with red lights and needs couples therapy, but her husband thinks she has nothing to do and their marital relationship does not need the intervention of outsiders at all. Although the patient would like to have a change, she has been living in a whirlpool of pain due to the other party’s inactivity and lack of support, and more unfortunately, her son has also suffered from depression as a result. In order to avoid this kind of misfortune in your family, please don’t avoid medical treatment, please go to the regular hospital, and the support and understanding of the family is also the basis for the healing of the disease. To avoid all this, the most important thing is our self-awareness. When you feel unhappy, sleep poorly, eat poorly, and are not interested in people and things around you, it is time to seek help.
