Small fiber neuropathy may present with symptoms such as abnormal sensation and abnormal autonomic function, which can be treated with medication or physical therapy such as transcutaneous electrical stimulation and acupuncture after the onset of the disease. 1. Symptoms (1) Sensory abnormalities: Sensory abnormalities include positive sensory abnormalities such as pain, nociceptive hypersensitivity, chronic itching, and negative sensory abnormalities such as decreased sensation of cold, heat, pins and needles and other stimuli. The pain starts from the feet and gradually rises. Sensory abnormalities in the upper limbs appear from the fingertips, and the lower limbs are heavier than the upper limbs. (2) Autonomic function abnormalities: including sweating disorders, with less sweating at the distal extremities and compensatory sweating at the proximal extremities being the most common; vasodilatory function and thermoregulatory disorders (facial flushing, erythema and limb pain); and gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, constipation, paralytic or pseudointestinal obstruction). 2.Treatment (1) Drug therapy: If the pain symptoms of patients with small fiber neuropathy are severe, pain relieving drugs can be given to treat them, commonly used drugs include ibuprofen extended-release capsules, diclofenac sodium enteric-coated tablets, etc., which can be used according to the regulations to achieve the efficacy of pain relieving as well as swelling reduction. Patients can also use antidepressant drugs such as sertraline, methylcobalamin and other nutritive nerve drugs. (2) Physical therapy: In addition to medication, physical therapy such as transcutaneous electrical stimulation and acupuncture can also help relieve symptoms.
