Patient Question: I stopped taking the medication in 2012, but last week’s test results showed high thyroglobulin antibodies, what does high antibodies mean and what are the chances of relapse? Expert reply: Whether or not there is a relapse after hyperthyroidism is cured depends mainly on: 1) whether the duration of drug maintenance treatment is sufficient; 2) whether the size of the thyroid gland is significantly reduced; 3) whether TSH is restored; 4) whether TRAb is reduced to the normal range. It does not depend on TgAb.
