Treatment of weak spleen and stomach III Take a walk in the spring

One of the concepts of spring health is clearly stated in the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine: “Walk widely in the courtyard”. It means that in spring, walk more in the courtyard. Why? What kind of reasoning is there when analyzed with the thinking of Chinese medicine? Using grass and trees as an example, in winter, trees recycle and gather all the nutrients to their roots, only to transit upward and outward again in spring, sprouting, growing leaves, and blossoming flowers. The same is true for human qi and blood. In winter, due to the relatively low activity of people and the low temperature of nature, the qi and blood are deeply hidden in the body, and in spring, it needs to be mobilized again in a soothing form and spread around the body, and walking is a good way. After this festival, the earth becomes warmer, and after this festival, the hibernating insects and animals start to wake up. In Chinese medicine, the spleen and stomach correspond to the earth, and the earth energy can strengthen the spleen and stomach and prevent the occurrence of digestive diseases. In addition, according to Chinese medicine, the liver is an organ for regulating emotions. If the emotions are not smooth, the liver wood will attack the spleen and earth, which will lead to the occurrence of digestive diseases, and spring is the time when the liver wood grows, so walking is a soothing and gentle activity that can make the liver’s qi and blood more relaxed and organized, which will enhance the communication between people and nature, and make the mood much more relaxed, which plays the role of regulating the qi and is beneficial to the maintenance of the spleen and stomach. This is the concept of time in Chinese medicine, so call your buddies and go for a walk in the spring light.
