Unlike this, cervical disc herniation is only a pathological phenomenon and refers only to the protrusion of the nucleus pulposus and part of the fibrous ring of the disc into the surrounding tissue; it is only when it compresses vital tissues such as the spinal cord and nerve roots and produces a range of clinical symptoms that it is called cervical disc herniation.
