How to treat rotator cuff injury

Rotator cuff injury can be treated conservatively if the injury is mild, such as medication, physical therapy; if the injury is serious, limitation of upper limb activities or pain is obvious, it is necessary to take surgical tendon repair method.

1. Conservative treatment: mostly used for patients with less serious injuries and slight limitation of joint activities, conservative treatment can be taken to avoid doing tiring work, oral ibuprofen and other drugs for pain relief or localized lidocaine, betamethasone and other drugs for closed injections, but also through the fumigation of traditional Chinese medicine, ultrashort wave and other physiotherapy, most of which can be relieved in 4-6 weeks through treatment.

2. Surgery: If the injury is serious, pain and activity limitation are obvious, most of the tendon is ruptured, and the arm is weak in lifting, we need to take the surgical method, perform arthroscopic surgery to suture the ruptured tendon, and fix the shoulder abduction brace for 6 weeks after the surgery. After surgery, the shoulder joint is immobilized in an abduction brace for 6 weeks, and then joint rehabilitation exercises are performed, and full recovery takes about 3 months.

After rotator cuff injury, we should consult the doctor in time, complete the relevant examination, clarify the degree of injury, and follow the doctor’s instructions to carry out standardized treatment, do not blindly deal with and use medication on your own, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
