Acupuncture areas for facial palsy

Acupuncture points commonly used for facial palsy include Dicang, Cheek Chee, Zygomaticus, Sun, Yangbai and Fengchi, Cataract and other points. In the acute stage, the acupuncture technique should be slightly light and shallow, and should not be overly stimulated to prevent aggravation of inflammation and edema; in the recovery stage, multiple methods can be used to treat and cure within the course of treatment as far as possible; if the patient delays the disease and develops facial palsy sequelae, slightly heavier techniques such as penetrating acupuncture, buried thread, as well as electrotherapy and acupoint injection can be used for treatment.
