The patient was diagnosed with severe gastroesophageal reflux disease with barrett’s esophagus and no atypical hyperplasia. After preoperative evaluation, a laparoscopic fundoplication was performed and he was discharged two days after surgery. Six months later, he returned for a follow-up examination and all the symptoms of reflux and acid reflux had completely disappeared without any further medication. Even more happily, a repeat gastroscopy showed that the severe esophagitis before surgery was almost invisible.
