Strabismus surgery steps

The steps of strabismus surgery are as follows: i. Routine disinfection of both eyes and laying of surgical cavity wipes. II. The eyelid opener is propped open, surface anesthetic is dropped into the eye, and lidocaine anesthetic is injected subconjunctivally. III. An incision is made in the conjunctiva, either a conjunctival incision in the fornix or a conjunctival incision across the muscle, or a conjunctival incision at the corneal limbus. IV. Hook the extraocular muscles, separate the myofascia, the nodal ligaments, etc. V. The muscle is closed with a strabismus suture loop, and a certain length of muscle is removed or retracted. VI. Finally, the bulbar conjunctival incision is closed with absorbable sutures intermittently or continuously, and the surgery is completed by applying tobramycin dexamethasone eye ointment in the conjunctival sac and wrapping the eye.
