When is the best time to straighten my teeth?

Generally speaking, the best time for orthodontic treatment is usually the early permanent teeth, 11-13 years old for girls and 12-15 years old for boys, when all the baby teeth have been replaced and all the permanent teeth have erupted, and the diagnosis of malocclusion is clearer, so orthodontic treatment during this period is fast and the orthodontic effect is stable. The advantage of early treatment for children is that children are in the growth and development period, the physiological alteration is active, the treatment effect is good, the tooth movement is faster than adults, the children’s nervous system is in the development stage, for the orthodontic treatment may cause discomfort, the ability to adapt is better than adults. Parents need to pay extra attention to: for some early bony malocclusion, intervention is needed during the period of tooth replacement (continuing to permanent teeth exactly 2 phases of orthodontic treatment), not just waiting for tooth replacement, so as not to miss the best time. If you have already missed the above orthodontic period, some malocclusions can also be corrected, and after the age of 18, adult orthodontics can be performed to improve the aesthetics of the face by adjusting the position of the teeth. For serious deformities, orthognathic surgery can be performed with significant results. Therefore, determining the best time for orthodontic treatment is not absolute and orthodontists will depend on the different types of malocclusion and the growth and development of the individual. However, for many patients with facial deformities caused by teeth, timely treatment can receive twice the result with half the effort, both physically and mentally.
