Ptosis cannot be improved by self-adjustment. Ptosis is mainly caused by the dysfunction of the levator muscle due to aging, congenital ocular dysplasia, ocular trauma, etc. It can be improved by surgical treatments, such as frontalis suspension, levator muscle shortening, and levator tendon membrane folding. 1. Frontalis muscle suspension: For patients with poor strength of the levator muscle due to aging, frontalis muscle suspension can be used, which is to use a suspension material to suspend the upper eyelid on the frontalis muscle, thus improving the state of upper eyelid ptosis. 2. Eyelid muscle shortening: The eyelid ptosis caused by eye trauma can be repaired by eyelid muscle shortening surgery, which is a procedure to cut off the excess part of the levator muscle, so that the upper eyelid can be restored to its normal position, which is suitable for the correction of mild to moderate ptosis. It is recommended to correct mild to moderate ptosis, and patients should change their bad habits to prevent recurrence of ptosis. 3. Folding of the levator tendon membrane: Folding of the levator tendon membrane is a surgical method that cuts the tendon membrane to migrate the tendon membrane forward, and it is used for ptosis caused by congenital ptosis with defective levator tendon membrane, which has a good muscle strength of the levator muscle. Patients with ptosis are advised to seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow their doctor’s instructions.
