The five tests for hepatitis B include five items, called hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B surface antibody, hepatitis B e antigen, hepatitis B e antibody and hepatitis B core antibody, which are the items that may appear after the hepatitis B virus infects the body, and also the items that appear after the vaccination. The first two are a pair called hepatitis B surface antigen and surface antibody. The hepatitis B vaccine actually extracts the surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus and injects it into the body to produce surface antibodies to hepatitis B. The first and second items will only have one positive result, and the presence of both is not stable. The third and fourth items are the same for the e antigen and e antibody of hepatitis B. They are not usually present at the same time. The e antigen and e antibody can be used to determine whether the virus is actively replicating in a person with hepatitis B. People with hepatitis B infection will generally be positive for hepatitis B core antibody, and people without hepatitis B infection will not be positive for hepatitis B core antibody.
