Uterine fibroids can be treated with medications in many cases, but there are no curative drugs. There are two types of drug therapy for fibroids: 1. Simple drug therapy is suitable for patients with mild symptoms, close to menopausal age or patients whose general condition is not suitable for surgery, such as patients with symptoms at perimenopausal age, after using drugs for about six months, it is possible to induce menopause to occur, which not only relieves symptoms but also avoids surgery. 2. Drug therapy is to prepare for subsequent surgery, in which case drugs are used first To reduce the size of the fibroids, or to induce temporary amenorrhea for a period of time with drugs to correct the anemia caused by the fibroids, all in order to create favorable conditions for surgery. Commonly used drugs, one is gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues, commonly used are leuprolide and goserelin; another drug is mifepristone, which are not suitable for long-term use and are effective in controlling the size of the myoma for a short period of time. For patients who have not reached menopausal age, the fibroids quickly return to their pre-drug state after stopping the drug, so they should not be abused. Small fibroids can also be treated with herbal medicine, which has some control effect.
