In this formula, Semixia dries dampness and resolves phlegm (removes phlegm by drying dampness), and is the principal medicine. Bamboo Root (竹茹) is used as the subject to remove vexation and stop vomiting. The combination of Semixia and Bamboo Roots dissolves phlegm and harmonizes the stomach, stops vomiting and removes vexation; Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae regulates qi and promotes stagnation, dries dampness and dissolves phlegm; Citrus Aurantium Citri Reticulatae subdues qi and directs stagnation, eliminating phlegm and removing lumps. The combination of Chen Pi and Citrus aurantium increases the power of regulating Qi and resolving phlegm. Poria is used to strengthen the spleen and seep away dampness; ginger and jujube are added to harmonize the spleen and stomach, and licorice is used to harmonize all medicines. It is recommended to take warm bile soup under the guidance of the doctor’s diagnosis, not blindly used.
