Nasopalatine duct cysts, or nasopalatine cysts, can usually be treated using surgery, and the exact choice of procedure and timing of surgery should be decided after examination and evaluation by a specialist.
Nasopalatine cysts occur at the base of the nose at the hard palate. They can be categorized as nasopalatine cysts at the base of the nose, intermediate nasopalatine cysts, incisive foramen cysts, and palatopalatine mastoid cysts. Each cyst has a different appearance depending on its location. Cysts may protrude from the floor of the nasal cavity or the anterior portion of the hard palate when they are diffuse, or they may protrude into the mouth.
Cysts of the incisal aperture can be painful due to compression of the prepalatal nerve. Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for this disease, and an appropriate approach must be chosen for removal. Cysts between the nasal cavity and the oral cavity are often removed through the oral cavity, but care should be taken to preserve the mucosa at the base of the nasal cavity to prevent naso-oral fistula.
