Rehabilitation of Right Ankle Fracture

Right ankle fracture rehabilitation, according to the time can be divided into early, middle and late rehabilitation, the specific training method is related to the patient’s condition. 1. Early rehabilitation: fibrous bone scab formation period (the 0th to 4th week). Acute rehabilitation (within 48h after surgery) can carry out toe pumping exercises to facilitate blood circulation in the foot and promote the elimination of swelling; after the compression bandage is opened, physiotherapy can be started, using cold therapy and semiconductor laser therapy. Sub-acute rehabilitation (48h~4 weeks after surgery) can be carried out as follows: elevation of the affected limb, cold therapy, light compression bandage; physical therapy (pulsed electromagnetic therapy, low-intensity pulsed ultrasound therapy); isometric contraction training; knee and metatarsophalangeal joint active range of motion training. 3. Intermediate rehabilitation: during the period of bone scab formation (5-8 weeks), rehabilitation content: application of physical therapy; joint mobility training; increase distal muscle strength and proximal stabilizing muscle strength, and the affected limbs to complete mild functional activities; weight-bearing training; in this period, weight-bearing training can be gradually carried out with the assistance of crutches, standing or walking. 4. Post-rehabilitation: Rehabilitation contents in the period of bone scab shaping (9-12 weeks): physical therapy (low energy laser, lymphatic massage, pressure therapeutic instrument, etc.); joint mobility training; muscle strength training (full weight-bearing, resistance muscle training); balance training; gait, step training, in order to adapt to the needs of occupational activities. Rehabilitation training for right ankle fracture is recommended under the guidance of a specialized physician.
