Why do you sneeze in the sun?

Sneezing into the sun is mainly related to tear irritation, nerve reflexes, vasomotor rhinitis and other factors.

1. Tear Irritation: Tears are produced when the eyes are exposed to strong sunlight, and the nasal cavity and the eyes are connected through the nasolacrimal duct, which will lead to sneezing when the tears irritate the nose.

2. Nerve reflex: the eyes and nose are stimulated by the same nerve, such as the trigeminal nerve, after feeling the light source the body will have a nerve reflex occurs, which will then manifest as sneezing.

3. Vasomotor rhinitis: patients with vasomotor rhinitis may sneeze when they encounter hot or cold stimuli, and sneezing may also occur after looking at the sun and being stimulated by bright light. The cause of the sneezing is still unclear, and it is considered to be related to autonomic nerve disorders.

If sneezing is too frequent, consult a physician or go to the hospital.
