Nursing care for the elderly with urinary incontinence includes rational choice of urination method, good skin care, lifestyle change, strengthening psychological care and so on.
1. Reasonable choice of urination: After comprehensively evaluating the walking ability and speech ability of the elderly, choose different ways of urination, such as assisting the elderly to walk to the toilet for urination, using a portable toilet to assist urination, or using suitable urinary pads or diapers.
2. Skin care: keep the perineal skin of the elderly clean and dry, change the wet clothes and bedding in time; wash and wipe the perineum with warm water, and apply Vaseline ointment locally if necessary to prevent the local skin from being irritated by urine and causing erosion and ulceration.
3. Lifestyle change: guide the elderly to maintain a reasonable dietary structure, eat more vitamin-rich foods; control weight, increase exercise to prevent the increase of abdominal pressure caused by obesity and constipation; guide the elderly to reasonably replenish water, at least 1500 ml per day, and reduce the intake of coffee, carbonated beverages, and spicy and stimulating foods.
4. Strengthen psychological care: the elderly often feel inferior due to the symptoms of urinary incontinence, we should respect the elderly, pay attention to the protection of their privacy, in order to better assist the elderly to actively cope with incontinence, improve the quality of life.
