Amoxicillin capsule dosage for children is required to be given according to the weight of the child. Amoxicillin capsules are used to treat sensitive bacterial (non-beta-lactamase producing) infections.
Amoxicillin capsules for children should be given at a dose appropriate for the child’s weight:
(1) For infants less than 3 months of age, 30 mg/kg of body weight should be given every 12 hours;
(2) For children weighing less than 40 kilograms, 20-40 mg/kg/day of body weight should be given in 2-3 divided doses.
(3) For children weighing more than 40 kilograms, 1-2 capsules each time, once every 8 hours.
Amoxicillin Capsules can be used for the treatment of sensitive bacterial (non-β-lactamase-producing) infections, lower respiratory tract infections caused by α and β hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus or Haemophilus influenzae, reproductive and urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis or Streptococcus faecalis, as well as ear, nose, and throat infections, and soft-tissue infections of the skin, and other diseases.
