Colla Corii Asini is a solid gelatin made from the dried or fresh skin of donkey, family Equidae, by decocting and concentrating, and it is usually taken by melting and serving. Colla Corii Asini is flat in nature, sweet in taste, and belongs to the kidney, lung and liver meridians, with the functions of tonifying blood and nourishing yin, moistening dryness and stopping bleeding. It is used in the treatment of blood deficiency and atrophy, dizziness and palpitation (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), muscular atrophy, insomnia, dryness of the lungs and coughing, vomiting and urinating blood, blood in the stool and leakage of blood (excessive menstruation or dribbling), and so on.
