What is lung dryness?

Lung dryness is mostly caused by dryness in autumn, or in dry places with little rain, which depletes the lung fluid and causes the lung guard to lose harmony, or by the wind-warm evil that turns dryness into fluid and injures the lung. Clinical symptoms include dry cough without sputum, or sputum that is small and sticky and not easy to get out, or even chest pain, blood in sputum, or epistaxis, dry mouth, lips, nose, throat and skin, little urine, dry stools, thin and dry tongue coating with little fluid, or slight fever and wind chill, no or little sweating, and floating or tight pulse. Treatment is to moisten the dryness and nourish the lung, clear heat and relieve the symptoms. Commonly used formula: Mulberry and apricot soup, apricot and sorghum with addition and subtraction. Commonly used acupoints: Lung Yu, Zhong Fu, Li Gu, Tai Yuan, Tai Xi, Zhao Hai. Diet: Be careful to eat fatty, sweet and greasy products, so as not to hinder the spleen and help dampness to produce phlegm, avoid eating spicy and inflammatory foods, quit smoking and drinking, and avoid contact with smoke and dust stimulation. Pay attention to timely humidification in autumn, eat more pears, water chestnuts, cabbage, radish and other foods that moisten and nourish the lungs.
