Should HPV-DNA and TCT be done at the same time?

HPV-DNA and TCT of the cervix should be done at the same time. HPV-DNA is a quantitative or qualitative DNA test for human papillomavirus, while TCT of the cervix is mainly to detect whether there are specific pathological changes in the cells of the cervix. Both tests are very important. In general, if the cervical infection is relatively short-lived and the type of infection is relatively poor, no specific damage may occur to the cervical cells for a long time. On the contrary, if the infection is relatively long or the type of infection is relatively severe, the damage to the cervical cells may be greater regardless of the duration of the infection and specific morphological changes in the cervical cells may occur soon. Therefore, both tests are usually done at the same time.
