What does intermediate cell mean?

Intermediate cells are a group of cells that leukocytes are categorized by trichotomies, which mainly include monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. Normally, the proportion of intermediate cells does not exceed 10%, and when it does, it needs to be manually sorted under a microscope to see which type of cell is causing the elevation. Common causes include: mononucleosis, which is common in monocytic leukemia, tuberculosis, malaria, infectious mononucleosis, and so on. Eosinophilia is commonly seen in bronchial asthma, allergic reactions, parasitic infections, skin diseases, eosinophilia and allergic diseases, as well as chronic granulocytic leukemia and post-surgery, burns, etc. Eosinophilia can also occur. Basophilia can be seen in chronic granulocytic leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, bone marrow metastatic carcinoma, lead poisoning, etc.
