Bleeding associated with post-stenting medications should be discontinued and followed by other types of antiplatelet agents.
After stenting for coronary artery disease, secondary prevention of coronary artery disease is routinely prescribed, including antiplatelet therapy and, in some patients, concomitant anticoagulant therapy. Both of these treatments may be associated with adverse effects of bleeding. Commonly, bleeding from the gums, or black stools, and if the bleeding is heavy, vomiting blood, hematuria, anemia, dizziness, etc. may occur. Seek medical attention as soon as they occur.
For patients who bleed after taking the drug, if it is aspirin-related, replace it with clopidogrel instead, and if bleeding still occurs, consider other antiplatelet agents such as tirofiban and dipyridamole.
If bleeding or other uncomfortable symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately, do not self-diagnose and treat to avoid delaying the condition.
