Liver puncture generally checks the inflammatory activity and fibrosis degree of the liver. Inflammatory activity is divided into five grades from G0 to G4, and fibrosis degree is divided into five grades from S0 to S4. 1. Inflammatory activity of the liver (1) G0 stage indicates that there is no or mild inflammation around the portal area and no inflammation in the lobules. (2) The G1 stage indicates mild inflammation in the portal area and inflammation but no necrosis in the lobules. (3) Stage G2 indicates mild fragmentation of the hilar duct area with punctate necrosis or eosinophilic vesicles within the lobules. (4) Stage G3 indicates moderate fragmentary necrosis in the hilar area and severe focal necrosis within the lobules. (5) Stage G4 indicates severe fragmentary necrosis in the portal area with bridging necrosis within the lobules, i.e., multilobular necrosis. 2. Degree of fibrosis (1) S0 stage is meaningless. (2) S1 stage indicates enlargement of the portal area with some fibrosis. (3) Stage S2 indicates fibrosis around the hilar area, but the leaflet structure is still preserved. (4) Stage S3 indicates fibrosis with disorganization of the lobular structure, but without cirrhosis. (5) Stage S4 indicates possible or definite cirrhosis. When the test results are abnormal, it is necessary to actively consult the doctor and follow the doctor’s instructions for reasonable treatment.
